Computer Infection Prevention
Take Action! Now more than ever, computer protection maintenance is a must to protect your computer files and PC. Zero Day exploits that bypass anti-viral and anti-malware programs can infect your computer by simply visiting an infected web page. Web browser plug-ins that we depend on for viewing web content like Java have serious flaws (See – Facebook Workers Hacked) that allow virus writers to catch many people unprepared.
Browsing the web today without maintaining adequate protection is like walking in a parking lot littered with glass in bare feet. Sooner or later you will get cut. We can’t emphasize enough how important it is for each and every one of you to perform weekly maintenance to keep your PC and data files safe. Investing 5-10 minutes a week will save you hours of anguish, lost files and the time and money to recover from the infection.
I’m often asked how to extend or maintain computer laptopbatteries to prevent expensive replacement and increase their run-time. There are a few simple steps that you can take to extend your laptop battery’s life and improve laptop run-time.
1. Exercise your battery at least once every 2 weeks. Don’t leave your laptop plugged in all the time. This is a sure fire way to reduce battery life. Battery life is dramatically increased when you take the time to run your laptop on battery power until around 75-85% of charge. Too heavy of a discharge actually reduces the total charge/re-charge cycles for Li-Ion batteries. Older batteries benefit from the deep discharge rate; Nicads are an example. Continue reading
